We will walk through the next steps for pottery 3's mask planter assignment. Pottery 2 will continue finishing their tiki's.

Welcome back! Lets re-cap what we have been doing, as well as make sure we are using the same consistency of clay as we continue with our projects.

Pottery 3- will begin building up a humanoid form

Pottery 2- will continue adding as much ornate detail as they can to their tiki.

Pottery 3- I will demo the first steps to forming a face over the document camera

Pottery 2 - We will continue working on our tiki's, remember, add everything first!! We will cut out pieces after Spring Break.

Slab Critique!


If you are absent during critique day, you may complete this at home for full credit.

Due to the shortened class period today we will extend our critique of our slab project to this upcoming Wednesday.

Feb 29th

First priority is your slab project which is due, finished and glazed by March 7th. For those who are finished or waiting for firings, you may begin the next project.

How did the Maori's tiki change to the tiki today, lets find out!

Feb 24th

We will be continuing learning about Polynesian art and the history of the tiki. Keep in mind projects are DUE Monday March 7th, that is finished and glazed.

Feb 22nd

Some students are finished or waiting for their slab project to be fired. Lets begin learning about Polynesian art and culture, in which students who are finished may begin on.

Paper stencils are a piece of cake! Lets apply colored slip!

Lets take a look at stencils and sticker-ing for surface manipulation, I will then demo "burnishing" our final projects.

Lets take a look at an artist who uses slab's, then talk about suraface decorations. I will demo sgraffito with glaze and underglaze in class.

Today, over the document camera I will demonstrate using a template to cut pieces out, as well as a re-cap on slipping scoring and smudging our pieces together.
